Aviator flying helmet with period goggles. Open cockpit biplane Flight helmet. Made of a soft leather.
(The same thin soft brown leather you usually see on A2 flight jackets). Very good internal cloth liner (just one very tiny hole. American biplane fighter pilots flight helmet & goggles. The GOGGLES are in poor / fair condition. The front right side lens is cracked and 1/2 the glass is missing.
The left side temple glass has been replaced with clear celluloid / plastic.. The original straps have been replaced, and there are crude repairs to the leather. The helmet is in very good / excellent Construction. Made of thin soft brown glove leather..With a cloth interior/ inner liner. It has a unique buckle chinstrap fastener. The chin strap looks like it might have been slightly shortened.
But it still fastens around the styrofoam manikin head. There is a small hand stitched area where the visor meets the main body on the right side.
And one of the' birdcage style' snaps on the rear neck flap is missing the small covering. (the snap it still is functional, the missing cover is decorative). Approximately 7 1/4 hat size. A nice larger wearable size. With apertures for the early ear phones.
Supple leather, still flexible and fully wearable. There is a small circular makers ink stamp in the interior, just behind the right ear piece roundel. Don't pass it up. But are still very displayable.
Well over 100 years old. These are increasingly hard to locate! Historic' Jenny' biplane pilots headgear & period goggles!
