26602, as used in conjunction with MANY flight helmets throughout WW2! During WW1, most pilots quickly realized the need for protective headgear due to the cold weather effects while in an open cockpit. As no headgear was readily available, pilots were forced to utilize commercially produced leather motorcycle and automobile helmets. During WW2, the German military produced approx. 10 variations of flight helmets for various operational conditions, as well as with or without radio communication equipment.
This specific helmet was designed with radio equipment for fighter and bomber pilots. It was similar to the earlier model used in the early months of the Battle of Britain (LWpW100), however with updated features. Made of cellophane, this set is in SUPERB unused condition! Mounted between the earphones and the pilots ears, these protect the electrical equipment, and the wearer. They feature a prominent part number, indicating, Ln. 26602, with NO breaks or damage! Some slight marks and wear due to the age, but nothing that detracts. Would look FANTASTIC on a flight helmet that is missing them! Most of my items are vintage, and as such are AS-IS, so you must therefore expect a degree of wear due to age and/or usage. Although my passion is the Me109, I do offer many other German Aircraft Fw190, Me262, etc. , as well as USAF and Japanese items. Occasionally I do offer many non-vintage items such as prints and art relating to the time period.
