Victory in the Pacific hinged on air power, as US Navy and Marine Corps fighter pilots battled Japanese Zeros in deadly dogfights over the Solomons, Leyte Gulf, and in the Great Marianas Turkey Shoot until air supremacy in the Pacific was won. Naval aviators of WW2 were issued khaki cotton flight helmets for wear in warm weather. This US Navy USMC Marine WW2 PILOT WIRED KHAKI FLIGHT HELMET is in good condition, with the "male" portion of the back right crown snap having mostly torn away from the body, some dark soiling around the exterior, some inward bending to the left cheek of the oxygen mask, and with some overall age wear evident (ALL pictured). Otherwise, the helmet is in fine shape, with no other damage to the tough khaki 100% cotton construction. Most interestingly, it boasts the original "ANB-H-1" ear phones with fully intact "Y" loom wiring and a "PL-354" red plastic end plug, sports three darkened brass "male" snaps at each side of the lower front with a snap-on hook at the right side, and is complete with the original A-14 oxygen mask.

The latter is stamped "DEMAND / OXYGEN MASK / TYPE A-14 / MEDIUM" at front, carries THE OHIO CHEMICAL & MFG. / ARCTIC" at the lower right side, and is marked "PROPERTY / AIR FORCE / U.

ARMY" at the lower left side, along with the date, "12-44 (December 1944). It also bears the original OD web attachment straps with buckles and snaps, and the original OD rubber oxygen hose. The helmet is a Size Large, features black rubber ear cups with chamois "donut" interior ear pads, the original velour padded khaki leather chinstrap, all three khaki leather retention tabs at back, and the classic "SLOTE & KLEIN" black and gold contract label inside, and the set is a fine example of a very rare, original US Navy USMC Marine WW2 PILOT WIRED KHAKI FLIGHT HELMET.
