US Navy USMC Marine WW2 F4U CORSAIR PILOT ULTRA LIGHTWEIGHT NYLON FLIGHT HELMET

By 1944, US Navy and Marine Corps pilots were wearing the ultra lightweight nylon flight helmet in the hot Pacific weather. It was especially prized by Marine F4U Corsair pilots flying out of primitive airstrips in the tropics.

This US Navy USMC Marine WW2 F4U CORSAIR PILOT ULTRA LIGHTWEIGHT NYLON FLIGHT HELMET is in very good condition, with some stiffening and dark soiling to the front "bill", some hardened brownish spot soiling to the right ear cup, a small roughly finished seam at the upper front left crown, a very small slit in the back left crown, some light wrinkling and surface flaking to the chinstrap and goggle retention tabs, some light whitish soiling to the contract label inside, and with some light overall age wear evident (ALL pictured). Otherwise, the helmet is in fine shape, with no other damage to the ultra lightweight OD nylon construction.

Most interestingly, it's a Size Large, boasts the original black rubber ear cups with chamois "donut" interior ear pads, and sports the classic SLOTE & KLEIN, INC. US Navy contract label inside. It features the original velour padded green leather chinstrap, carries all three green leather goggle retention tabs at back, and exhibits the traditional chamois lined front "bill". A fine example of a very rare, original.
