High Altitude RAF Aircraft ML 12 Pilot Flight Pressure Helmet Concorde. ML 12 Pilot Flight Pressure Helmet. Made by ML Aviation Company of Berkshire England. Very rare and sought after example of a ML High Altitude partial pressure helmet. These helmets were used on aircraft such as English Electric Lightning and Canberra. They were also used by test pilots operating from bases such as Boscombe Down carrying our trials work and by test crews who developed. This is an early example of the Ml12 Partial Pressure helmet. As standard it has no rear crash protection which was added to later example of this helmets as used on aircraft such as Luftwaffe F-1-4G. What is unusual about this example is the unusually long oxygen hose and the dual mic tel connections with both military jack jack plug 10H/ 18575 as well as a socket 10H/ 4207. Condition is used as flown.

There are signs of age related wear for example the internal rubber lining has started to split and perish. The rubber seal around the inside of the clear visor has also started to perish. Some chipping of paint in one or two places.

Still very displayable highly collectable helmet that would be a superb addition to any flight helmet collection. Please see the photos for further details. The previous owner of this helmet acquired it in 1978 and has owned it for the last 40 years.

We have been informed by the last owner it was used as Filton for flight test and evaluation sorties including on Concorde however we have been unable to confirm this from our research. If anyone can provide any more information on this helmet we would be very interested to hear from you. Internal tinted visor moves down with lever on right hand side.
