1950s USAF Air Force F-100 Super Sabre HGU 2/P Jet Pilot Flight Helmet (large)
Early USAF HGU 2/P (not the later HGU 2 A/P) flight helmet with U. Air Force wing insignia and U. On the front visor assembly. This helmet is the early HGU version with the leather oxygen mask tabs. Used by F-100 Super Sabre pilots in the late 1950s and early days of Vietnam.
The exterior only has very minimal wear and shines. Complete with receivers, avionics, padding and chinstrap.
I cant find a specification label inside but the helmet but I estimate the size to be large and is the early type which were only produced a couple of years in the late 1950s and early 1960s. I wear a size 7 ΒΌ and it fits me easily.
This is a very hard flight helmet to find in flight helmet collections. I have included an original postcard showing two pilots at Eglin Air Force Base wearing this type flight helmet.
