Because the originals were deteriorated. Original H-87A/U comm wires and H-87A/U receivers and nice set of chrome Hardman Oxygen Mask Receivers.

Typical nicks and scratches to paint and visor as would be expected from nearly 50 years old (see photos). Leather covered sizing pads are still soft.
